Fall In Love With The Process

Dear Strong Woman,

Connect today to all your tomorrows.

Time is a funny thing. How can it be that, not only are we three days into our third trimester, but also three days from reaching the halfway point of 2021.

Time passes gradually, and then suddenly.

Major life changes happen in the same fashion. I’ve noted how 2021 has been a big year for my family, too. One brother engaged, another buying his first home, and the youngest one sporting facial hair on a consistent basis. My parents fully retired and left the north east for a warmer climate. I fully embraced entrepreneurship and left administrative work for a life I wanted, only shortly after to discover a whole other life growing inside me.

And while some of it has felt surprising, none of it came out of the blue.

I see people hitting major milestones on the regular. New levels of business growth. PRs broken and celebrated. Raises negotiated and granted. Books published. Families growing. Projects finished. (You probably see them, too.)

But if we only focus on the result, we’re missing the most important part.

We don’t see the long nights and rough patches. We don’t see the fights with spouses. We don’t see the practice conversations had in the mirror, the moments where giving up in on the table, the tears cried in the car, the shower, in the dark.

The result is merely a moment. The journey is a whole other memory altogether.

It all matters. Every failed attempt, flopped idea, and scraped knee. Every panic attack, trashed concept, and trek back to the drawing board.

It’s in these moments we discover what we’re truly made of.

I’d be lying if I said the entrepreneurial journey hasn’t been a roller coaster. I’d be a fool if I said there aren’t things I’m terrified about as motherhood knocks on my door.

But every time I choose IN, I choose to trust God’s plan for me. Every time I choose in, I choose to trust myself. Not that everything will go according to plan, but that I will be able to carry on if it doesn't.

So if you’re sitting there wondering where the time has gone, cursing yourself for not being further along by now, RELAX and turn down the self-judgement. You are not too…WHATEVER…and it is not too late.

We can’t go back in time and change what’s happened, so it’s not constructive to waste time focusing on all the things we should’ve done either. Right?

Choose IN, despite how it’s gone. Choose IN, regardless of what’s unfinished. Choose IN, again and again and again.

Fall in love with the process of doing so and the results will come.
